As Debby Scire prepares to retire after nearly three decades of tireless leadership, we celebrate her remarkable 27-year career with Campus Compact for New Hampshire the New Hampshire College & University Council.
Since beginning her journey with Campus Compact for New Hampshire in 1997 and stepping into the role of Executive Director in 2004, Debby Scire has been a tireless advocate for service, service learning, and civic engagement across New Hampshire’s campuses. Over the course of her remarkable 27-year career, her dedication to education, service, and community has shaped the landscape of higher education and civic engagement across the state.
Debby will be missed for countless reasons: her exceptional leadership, her ability to forge deep and lasting connections with state leaders, and her unwavering dedication to students and the institutions they attend. For more than two decades, Debby has been a cornerstone of both regional and national Campus Compact networks. Her strategic support and guidance to colleagues, institutions, and the broader higher education community have made her a trusted leader in New Hampshire and beyond.
In 2019, Debby assumed the dual role of leading both the New Hampshire College & University Council (NHCUC) and Campus Compact for New Hampshire (CCNH). She successfully managed both organizations through a period of significant growth and helped CCNH reach new heights in their mission to strengthen community engagement in higher education by expanding its programming and staff. Within the NHCUC, Debby’s steady leadership helped guide member institutions through the COVID-19 pandemic, advocating for higher education support in challenging legislative environments.
Throughout her career, Debby has embodied the qualities of a “common-sense visionary.” She is both a believer in the mission of higher education and a doer who has brought that vision to life. Her deep commitment to New Hampshire and its colleges has guided her leadership, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to serve the state and its institutions for years to come.
Debby’s contributions to CCNH, the NHCUC, and New Hampshire’s higher education community has set a high standard of service, one that will inspire future leaders to carry forward her mission of improving education for all.
